Bremer County Sheriff’s Office Takes to the Trails

The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office is ready to take to the trails.

In a Facebook post, Sheriff Dan Pickett says the department will start patrolling the bike trails in rural Bremer County areas. With approximately 13 miles of trails between Waverly, Denver, and Readlyn, the Sheriff’s Office has added a new fully marked Ranger to randomly monitor bike trails with evening and night patrols to help deter suspicious activities and vandalism.

Pickett says their plan is to be visible to those who use the trail and give deputies another opportunity to engage in community policing. The Sheriff’s office will be handing out stickers, pencils, bracelets, and free ice cream cone tickets to kids that are using helmets and practicing bicycle safety protocols.

The department’s Ranger will be equipped with first aid equipment and an AED in case of medical emergencies. Their goal is to engage with the public and to make the trails safer for public use.
