Charles City Police Chief Alerts Public to Increased Scam Activity

Scams are on the rise and could be just a phone call away.

Charles City Police Chief Hugh Anderson says a community like Charles City is an attractive target for scammers due to the number of elderly residents.

And scammers are looking for bigger pay days.

Anderson says scammers are even stooping to impersonating calls from his own department.

Anderson advises citizens to call local law enforcement if you receive any phone call you think is suspicious. And never give out personal information like your bank account, address or social security number over the phone.
