Senator Chuck Grassley Knows Dry Land Conditions Firsthand

U.S Senator Chuck Grassley knows first hand how dry land conditions are becoming in north and northeast Iowa.

Grassley says his rain gauge certainly tells the need for precipitation.

Over two-thirds of Butler County was considered to be in the D1/ moderate drought stage in the June 8thU.S. Drought Monitor for Iowa, with sections of Floyd and Chickasaw counties also in the D1 drought category.

Portions of Fayette and Bremer counties have progressed into severe drought, while Mitchell and Howard counties are among the very few counties in the state where drought was not a concern.

There’s also been the randomness of the rainfall, with Grassley noting that last week, his son’s farm about three miles north received around six-tenths of an inch, while his farm received none.
