Chickasaw County Wind Energy Center Sold to MidAmerican EnergyÂ
Just over a month after construction began, the Chickasaw County Wind Energy Center is now under new ownership.
The project to install 66 wind turbines across northern sections of Chickasaw County has been acquired by MidAmerican Energy. Media Relations Manager Geoff Greenwood says MidAmerican purchased the wind farm from Chicago-based Invenergy.
An email from project developer Isaac Lamppa to the County sent Friday, June 16, indicated the acquisition was completed on June 8th. A letter from legal counsel for the wind energy center was also included and shows the process of the purchase began February 17th.
Lamppa added that Invenergy will be sending out notifications to the project’s 143 landowners of the change in ownership assignment.Â
MidAmerican is Iowa’s largest public utility and the state’s largest owner of wind turbines, including 50 wind turbines in Floyd County on 16 acres south of Charles City.Â
Greenwood says MidAmerican expects to place the 66 wind turbines in Chickasaw County in-service by the end of this year.
