North Iowa Man Charged in Two Counties with Child Sex Crimes

A North Iowa man is facing over a half-dozen charges after he was accused of child sex abuse in two counties.
The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office arrested 65-year-old Douglas Warburton of Northwood Friday on three counts of exhibition of obscene material to a minor in Mitchell County. Warburton has also been charged with second-degree sex abuse, third-degree sex abuse and lascivious acts with a child, all felonies, plus indecent contact with a child in Worth County .
Court documents state Warburton showed pornographic videos to a grandchild on three occasions in St. Ansgar and had sexual contact with the child in Northwood. The illegal acts are alleged to have started in May of 2019 and continued until recently.
Warburton was booked into the Worth County Jail on Saturday and is being held on $50,000 bond. Worth County Attorney Jeffrey Greve has filed a motion to allow the Mitchell County Attorney Aaron Murphy to prosecute Warburton for the crimes committed in both counties.
