Construction of NIACC Charles City Career Academy on Track

Construction of the new NIACC Career Academy in Charles City, now three months along, is meeting timelines, according to NIACC President Steve Schulz.
Woodruff Construction of Waterloo began work in April to add the career academy to the south side of their existing Charles City NIACC Center, just east of Hy-Vee.Â
With the base of the addition in place and walls being erected, Schulz he’s looking forward to the academy continuing to take shape.
Construction will mean the operations of the current Charles City NIACC Center to be relocated, which Schulz says is now in place.
Completion of construction is targeted by March of next year, although courses in health, information technology, construction trades and advanced manufacturing won’t be available to area high school students until August of 2024.
In addition to Charles City, the Career Academy partnership also includes the Clarksville, Nashua-Plainfield, North Butler, Osage, Riceville and Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock school districts.
