New Hampton Substitute Teachers Get Pay Bump

Substitute teacher pay will be going up by $30 a day in the New Hampton School District.
The pay hike for substitute teachers, who work a full day in the classroom, was approved by the School Board recently following a recommendation by Superintendent Jay Jurrens to keep up with other districts.
JJurrens says the increase will cost an estimated $36,000 extra in the 2023-24 school year based on the typical number of substitute teachers they have in the district.
The School Board also approved, at the request of school district support staff, the purchase of an electronic time clock system to more accurately track the time worked. Equipment and setup will be paid for with ESSR funds.Â
