It’s a friendly competition between law enforcement and firefighters for “Fuel the Fire or Back the Blue†Saturday (08.05) in New Hampton.
Organizer Nicole Engelhart says the New Hampton Police Department and Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office will team up against the New Hampton Fire Department for tug-of-war and relay races.
Police Chief Tim Pederson likes the chances for peace officers.
Fire Chief Toby Schwickerath also has confidence in his firefighters, although he’s not opposed to helping his team’s tug-of-war chances.
The event Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm in Mikkelson Park is free, but Sheriff Ryan Shawver says it’s also a chance to raise funds for their K9 program.
All three departments will also have vehicles and/or equipment on display. There’s also face painting, raffle items, food trucks, dunk tank, pie smashing, bouncy houses, cotton candy, sno-cones and more.
