Texas Man Pleads Not Guilty to Assaults in North Iowa

A Texas man, arrested just five days apart for assaults in Cresco and Clear Lake, has now pleaded not guilty to all charges.

43-year-old Terry Harley of Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested following incidents June 24th at the Howard County Fair in which was accused of pepper spraying a carnival games supervisor and an employee at the fair. A male victim suffered minor injuries while a female victim was treated for breathing and vision issues at Howard County Regional Health in Cresco.

Five days later, Harley was arrested again after he allegedly punched a carnival worker he had fired several times in the face during Clear Lake’s Fourth of July celebration. The altercation was caught on security camera.

Last month, Harley pleaded not guilty to Cresco charges including assault causing serious injury, a Class D felony, and two counts of assault causing injury,  aggravated misdemeanors. His trial is now set for October 11th in Howard County District Court

Friday, Harley pleaded not guilty to the June 29th in Clear Lake and his trial date in Cerro Gordo County District Court was set for October 24th.
