Charles City’s Fox Testifies at IUB/Summit Pipeline Hearing

Floyd County was first up for witness testimony on day one of the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB)hearing on Summit Carbon Solutions’ carbon pipeline permit application. Charles City was first in line on day two.

Summit’s proposed route for the pipeline would dissect the Avenue of the Saints Development Park on the south side of Charles City. During IUB proceedings Wednesday (08.23) in Fort Dodge, Charles City Area Development Corporation Executive Director Tim Fox said Summit did little to offer an alternative route through the area. As is, he argued it would hurt the City’s chances for continued development of the park.

Fox also took issue with the pipeline’s route through Charles City in general.

On Tuesday (08.22), Floyd County landowner Jessica Marson was the first person to testify against Summit’s possible use of eminent domain to obtain easements through properties along the pipeline route where owners have not signed voluntary easements with the company.

The hearing concluded for the week on Thursday (08.24) at the Cardiff Event in Fort Dodge. Three more days of hearings are scheduled for next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, at the same venue.
