Chickasaw County Supervisors Questioned Again on ARPA Funding Denials

 For the third time this month, the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors was challenged over denials of ARPA funding requests by various communities in the County.

Earlier this year, the Board approved $50,000 for Nashua, which asked for help paying to evaluate the health of the dam that creates Cedar Lake. During their August 7th meeting, requests of $30,000 to $50,000 in County ARPA money for infrastructure projects in Alta Vista, Ionia, Lawler and North Washington were all voted down. 

North Washington Mayor Dave Geerts addressed Supervisors again during their meeting this past Monday (08.28) about the requests that were denied.

Supervisor Scott Cerwinske, who lives in Nashua, reiterated his reasoning for voting in favor of Nashua’s request.

Kurt Croell, on behalf of Lawler, asked Supervisor Chair Matt Kuhn if the requests of Alta Vista, Ionia, Lawler and North Washington could be reconsidered by the Board.

During the August 7th Supervisors voting, Kuhn and Steven Breitbach voted for Alta Vista, Ionia, Lawler and North Washington to receive ARPA funds, while Cerwinske, Jacob Hackman, and Travis Suckow all voted against. 

No new action was taken this week.
