Charles City, North Butler Students Named Players with Heart

High school student-athletes from Floyd and Butler counties are being recognized for their commitment and passion on and off the field as well as in the field.

Charles City’s Colton Anderegg has been nominated as a Beck’s Player with Heart. He tells Radio Iowa’s Todd Kimm that his love of hard work has helped in football and wrestling and on the farm.

Anderegg says agriculture has always been a big part of his life, starting with working on his grandfather’s farm at age five. He is involved in FFA and 4-H and plans to go to NIACC and pursue an agricultural related field.

North Butler’s Lauren Fleshner of Allison has also been nominated this week as a Beck’s Player with Heart. She is involved in volleyball, basketball, FFA, National Honor Society, 4-H as well as her church’s youth group.

Fleshner says her love for agriculture started with getting a pony at age three and she recently learned how to shear sheep. Her plan is to attend Iowa State University next year to major in Animal Science.
