One of Two New Charles City Murals Completed Thursday

One of two new “Town of Colors†murals in Charles City was finished by Thursday (09.21).
Artist Andrea Erhardt painted the mural on the north side of the Furniture Barn, along South Grand Avenue.
Erhardt says the mural isn’t her biggest project, but it’s not the smallest either for someone whose career took off by painting company logos, including in her home town of Springfield, Missouri.
Erhardt began painting on Monday (09.18), the same day Molly Keen started her mural along the Clark Street side of the building that houses The Insurance Office. And while Keen’s mural is larger in scope, Erhardt says it was not been a race to see who could finish first.
Businesses are paying 10% of the costs for the murals, with the rest being funded through grants and fundraising through the Charles City Arts Council. No tax dollars are used to paint the “Town of Colors†murals, which now totals six in all (it will be seven when Keen is finished).
