Mason City Driver Injured After Her Car is Struck by Train
A Mason City woman was injured after the car she was driving was struck by a train in Floyd County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the collision occurred shortly after 7:30 pm Sunday (09.24) night near the intersection of 6th Street and Chickasaw Street in Rudd. 36-year-old Yesenia Claypool drove around the deployed railroad arms at the crossing and was hit on the driver’s side by a Canadian Pacific train.
Claypool was taken to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City for treatment of injuries. The State Patrol says her life was saved by wearing a seat belt.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
