The Charles City Police Department was among the “good eggs†who helped with some street cleanup.
Around 9 am Friday (10.13), CCPD wasn’t called in to “crack the case,†but they did “scramble†into action to help assist with cleanup efforts after a Jendro Sanitation truck spilled a bag containing liquid eggs at the corner of Highway 14 and South Main Street. The spill led to a temporary street closure in the one-block area to the west of the intersection.
The City Street Department, Charles City Fire Rescue, the Iowa DNR and others also helped with cleanup that continued into early Friday afternoon.
There were no injuries reported in the incident.
