Response to Threat to Charles City Schools to Get Standard Review

Response to a threat to Charles City Schools earlier this week will get a standard review.

At approximately 7:45 am Wednesday (11.08) morning, the school district notified Charles City Police  of a threatening comment about the schools that was posted to social media. At the onset of the possible threat, Superintendent Anne Lundquist says all school buildings were immediately placed in a soft lockdown.

Lundquist says school officials and law enforcement took their due diligence to determine the threat was not credible.

Lundquist says an “After Action Review” of the situation has already been scheduled and various safety scenarios are addressed on a regular basis by the district’s Crisis Response and Life Safety Advisory Group.

Law enforcement identified the student responsible for the post, who claimed the post was meant as a joke. The student in question will face disciplinary action, per school district protocol. That student could also face legal action.
