Mobile Food Pantry Wednesday in Charles City

The Charles City Mobile Food Pantry (CCMFP) makes its monthly distribution for December Wednesday (12.06) at the Floyd County Fairgrounds.

The Mobile Pantry, through the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, visits Charles City the first Wednesday of the month at the Youth Enrichment Center (YEC) with drive-thru distribution of food from 5 to 6 pm to about 170 households.

In November, the mobile food pantry also began a collaboration with St. John Evangelical Church in Charles City to supplement the service with a new delivery option for households lacking transportation to get to the YEC.

Site coordinator Jenn Burton says the delivery option allows them to extend the reach to those in need.

Food delivery to those eligible is limited to the first 10 households to sign up each month on a first-come-first-served basis, but Burton says they could do more if more volunteers become available.

Burton also stresses that home-delivery service is in addition to the drive-thru distribution and there will be enough food to go around. So, if your household has been able to come to the fairgrounds for food, please, continue that arrangement.

Any household that meets the income eligibility requirement can receive free food. The delivery service is available within a five-mile radius of Charles City.
