Iowans Don’t Need the Holiday Rush to Drive Fast

It’s the holiday season, which can be rush-rush for many people.
However, that “rush-rush” appears to be a recurring theme year round for many Iowa drivers.
Trooper Tom Williams with the Iowa State Patrol’s Mason City District, says excessive speeding at 100 mph or greater continues to be a problem across the state.
Still, drivers should be aware you don’t have to go 100 mph or more to be in danger of losing your license.
Williams notes that the rate of citations for excessive speeds in 2023 is at least pacing slower than the some 1500 such citations issued in the peak year of 2020.
