Charles City Fire Department Cautions Safety After Carbon Monoxide Call

The Charles City Fire Department was dispatched to a home on North Iowa Avenue Tuesday (01.16) evening for suspected carbon monoxide exposure.

That’s CCFD Firefighter Andy Hintgen, who adds that carbon monoxide is often referenced as the “Silent Killer” to emphasize its health risks.

Hintgen also notes that the age of your home could lend itself to more carbon monoxide issues.

Upon arrival Tuesday night, crews were able to clear the home with use of a gas monitor.  And, while the residence was equipped with a functioning carbon monoxide detector, you’re reminded to check your monitors and ensure they are in good working order.

CCFD says AMR Ambulance also assisted at the scene to ensure everyone in the home was okay.
