Crews to Battle Keeping North Iowa Roads Clear…Again

The latest winter weather system to move through north and northeast Iowa won’t bring snowfall like last week, but don’t let that catch you off guard.

Pete Hjelmstad with the Iowa DOT’s Mason City District office says, even with only one to three inches of snow this time around, be prepared.

The light fluffy snow will also be accompanied by cold temps and blowing winds.

Hjelmstad also stresses checking road conditions at www.511ia.org before you travel, but don’t be fooled by the “green” colored roads in winter.

Another blast of arctic air will follow the snow with daytime highs just about zero Friday and Saturday and overnight lows Friday and Saturday around 15-below. Wind chills of 20-to-30-degree below zero or colder are also possible.
