Suzanne “Sue” Kluwe, 82, of Charles City, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Sue Kluwe will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home beginning with a Rosary prayer at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers or plants memorials are suggested to be made to St. Croix Hospice.

Suzanne (Sobolik) Kluwe was born to Dolores (Daly) & LeRoy Sobolik on June 1, 1941, in Charles City. She attended Immaculate Conception School System in Charles City and Hamilton Business School in Mason City. She met Vernon Kluwe at Hamilton Business School and they married on June 13, 1964. They resided in Mason City until they moved back to Charles City in 2005 to be closer to family. They were married 47 years until his passing on October 11, 2011.

Suzanne held a variety of jobs during her working career to include secretary, dental assistant, and certified nursing assistant. After the birth of their only child Pam, she decided to “retire” from working outside of the home.

Suzanne was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City and Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City. She was active in the church until she was unable to do so. She maintained a strong faith during her lifetime. She was known for her smile that would light up a room and her sense of humor.

She loved to travel and one of her most memorable trips was accompanying her daughter and son-in-law to the Eukanuba Dog Show in Long Beach, California in 2010, to watch them show Oliver. She was a dog lover and had several dogs over her lifetime. While residing at 11th St. Chautauqua she enjoyed visits from her grand-dog Aldo.

Living family members include her daughter, Pam (Duane) Folz; and brothers: Mike (Viki) Sobolik, Jack (Galene) Sobolik, and Jim (Paula) Sobolik.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Kluwe; mother, Dolores (Daly) Sobolik; and father, LeRoy Sobolik.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
