Northeast Iowa Man Charged with Murder Held Without Bond in Colorado

A northeast Iowa man accused of killing his wife is being held without bond in Colorado.

Early Tuesday (01.23) morning, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office in Loveland, Colorado, arrested 37-year-old Brandon Kasemeier for driving under the influence and later learned he was wanted on an Allamakee County warrant that identified him as a “fugitive from another jurisdiction.”

According to the Larimer County Jail website, Kasemeier is incarcerated without bond and is slated for an initial court appearance on Friday, February 2nd.

Kasemeier has been charged with first-degree murder after Waukon Police found the deceased body of his ex-wife, Jami Kasemeier, Monday (01.22) morning, following a welfare check at her residence in the 100 block of 1st Avenue Southwest in Waukon. She had not been heard from since the previous Friday (01.19).

Her death was initially labeled as “suspicious in nature,” but is now considered a homicide. An autopsy will be performed by the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner.

The Iowa DCI, Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office, and Iowa State Patrol are also assisting with the investigation, which is ongoing.

A GoFundMe account has been established on behalf of Jami Kasemeier. According to the description, money raised will go towards funeral and other expenses to help three young adults, ages 21, 20, and 18, who lost both parents because of this tragic event.

The fundraising goal is set at $50,000. As of 8 am Thursday (01.25), over $2,300 had been donated. A link to the account is located here:  https://www.gofundme.com/f/jami-kasemeier
