Threat Against Northeast Iowa School District Deemed “Not Credible”

A threat against a Northeast Iowa school district has been deemed as “not credible.”
Mar-Mac Police say they received a report of a threat against the MFL MarMac High School shortly after 10 pm Friday (09.13) night. The threat indicated that the school would be targeted on Monday (09.16).
School Superintendent Tim Dugger issued a statement to MFL MarMac families, staff and community members that the school “received notification that a social media threat had been made towards the school district. The Mar-Mac Police Department took immediate action and conducted a threat assessment. Through their investigation, it was determined the threat was not credible.”
Dugger added, “Our school will continue to operate as normal, and all scheduled activities and events will proceed as planned. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority, and we are committed to maintaining a secure and supportive environment.”
Police Chief Robert Millin said the MFL MarMac High School student accused of making the threat was immediately identified and located at their residence in Marquette. The student, along with their parents and guardian, participated and cooperated with the assessment process. Based on the initial assessment, it’s the opinion of the investigators that the reported threat is not credible.
Millin says the investigation continues to determine the source of the reported threat and how it came to be. Investigators will continue to conduct follow-up conversations with the student(s) involved, school personnel, and other necessary agencies.
