Main Street Rehab Project in Charles City to Head Into Homestretch Next Week

A more “concrete” date has been set for the final homestretch of the $2 million Main Street Rehabilitation Project in Charles City.

Bill Ries with Veenstra & Kimm, the project managers, says the remainder of asphalt work on Main Street is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of September 23rd. While this work by Heartland Asphalt takes place, all of Main Street will be closed to parking, however two-way traffic will be maintained. Side street access will also be limited to through traffic.

Ries adds that, during paving operations, Clark and Hulin Streets will be the only two streets to have access to cross Main Street. However, access will also be limited when crews are paving in the immediate area of those two intersections.

The paving work is expected to take two weeks to complete.

In the meantime, Ries notes that, like last week, there is very little construction activity anticipated this week.
