Georgia Man Killed After Ejection in Two-Vehicle North Iowa Crash

A Georgia man is dead after he was thrown from a truck involved in a collision with a semi in North Iowa.
The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) says the wreck occurred about 12:30 pm Thursday (09.19) afternoon at the intersection of Kirkwood Avenue and 465th Street, west of Stacyville. A 2024 Mack truck driven by 43-year-old Senika Range of McDonough, Georgia, crashed into a 2012 Peterbilt semi driven by 24-year-old Christo Van Der Linde of Stacyville.
The ISP says Range failed to stop at the stop sign, entered the intersection, and was hit on the passenger’s side by Van Der Linde. The semi rolled and spilled a load of corn while a passenger in the Mack truck, 60-year-old Eric Mitchell of Atlanta, Georgia, was ejected from the vehicle.
Mitchell was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester but died from his injuries. The crash report says Mitchell was not wearing a seat belt.
Range and Van Der Linde were both transported to Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage for treatment.
The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, MercyOne AirMed, Stacyville Fire Department, Mitchell County Ambulance, and St. Ansgar Fire and EMS also assisted at the scene.
