 North Main in Charles City On Track to Be Fully Open by End of Week

Traffic as well as parking on North Main Street in Charles City is on track to be fully open by the end of the week.

Jason Petersburg with Veenstra & Kimm, the project managers, gave the City Council the latest update Monday (10.07) night.

Petersburg adds that a few minor details remain to be addressed.

Petersburg says they’ll then do an audit of the project with the Iowa DOT.

Parking, specifically, handicapped parking also must still be resolved, but the Council opted to table any decisions until additional clarification is also received from the DOT. 

Tuesday (10.09), Heartland Asphalt applied the final layer of 1.5 inches of asphalt to the east lanes of Main Street.  Early Wednesday (10.09) morning, ttwo-way traffic was shifted to the finished east lanes in advance of the final layer of 1.5 inches of new asphalt to be applied to the west lanes of Main Street.
