Cedar Falls Man Arrested Near New Hampton After Pursuit

A Cedar Falls man is facing a half dozen charges after he led law enforcement on a pursuit that began in downtown New Hampton.
A New Hampton Police officer attempted a traffic stop of a motorcycle, allegedly operated by 43-year-old Curt Widen, on Main Street at about 10:30 pm Friday (10.11) night. However, Widen refused to pull over and a pursuit began, with Widen traveling south on Linn Avenue before heading onto gravel roads.
Chief Conrad Rosendahl says Widen then re-entered Highway 63 south of New Hampton before finally stopping for law enforcement on Highway 63 north of New Hampton.
Widen has been charged with felony eluding and driving while license suspended. He was also cited for various traffic violations, including speeding and reckless driving.
Further investigation discovered that Widen had several active warrants from other Iowa counties.
Widen is scheduled for arraignment November 26th in Chickasaw County District Court.
The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the pursuit and apprehension of Widen.
