It was a water rescue of a different kind on Monday, Nov. 4, in Charles City.
That’s Charles City Police Chief Hugh Anderson, who says the solution to getting the boat safely off the Cedar River, at the dam just west of the Main Street Bridge, wasn’t as easy as just “jumping right in.”
Fortunately, Anderson adds time was on their side in assessing the situation.
Search and Rescue’s Justin Schuttler and Landon Luft, also members of the Charles City Fire Department, entered the water below the dam to attach a tow rope to the boat and pull it to shore.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and AMR Ambulance also responded to the scene.
