Law Enforcement Make Holidays Brighter for About Three Dozen Floyd County Kids

A trio of law enforcement agencies made the holidays brighter for almost three dozen kids.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and the Charles City and Nora Springs police departments conducted their annual “Shop With A Cop” event Wednesday (12.11) night at Theisen’s in Charles City. Deputies and officers took 35 children from Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock, Washington, Lincoln, Immaculate Conception, and Central Springs elementary schools Christmas shopping for holiday gifts.

Each child was partnered with an officer and then sent out to shop with about $45 to spend as they wish.

A Floyd County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post notes that the cost was paid for entirely by donations and thanked everyone who donated. FCSO also thanked Theisen’s for their generous donation and assistance, and school counselors for helping select the children and working with the families.

FCSO adds that, “Shop with a Cop,” in its eighth year, has gifted students with over $8000 in toys and clothing.
