Moderate Drought Conditions Persist Across Region

Much of the region remains blanketed in moderate drought, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor for Iowa.

Based on precipitation through 7 am Tuesday, December 10th, all of Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Cerro Gordo, Chickasaw, Hancock, Howard, Floyd, Fayette, Franklin, Grundy, Kossuth Mitchell, Winneshiek, Worth, Winnebago, and Wright counties remain rated in the D1 category for moderate drought. 

The western quarter of Allamakee County is also in moderate drought, with the middle section of the county in the D0 category for abnormally dry, and the northeast corner of the county drought-free. The western two-thirds of Clayton County are in moderate drought, with the remainder of the county abnormally dry. 

The latest drought report is almost identical to the prior reporting period ending December 3rd.
