Cerro Gordo, Floyd Counties Consider Shared Engineer

Officials in Cerro Gordo and Floyd counties have been in conversations to possibly share County Engineer duties.
Supervisors from both counties met in Mason City recently to discuss Cerro Gordo County Engineer Brandon Billings also leading the Floyd County Secondary Roads Department, with Floyd County Engineer Jacob Page’s resigning January 10th. Initially, it could be a six-month trial run.
That’s Floyd County Supervisor Mark Kuhn during Monday’s (12.23) Board meeting while posing the appointment of a “liaison” from Floyd County to work out details of a possible arrangement with Cerro Gordo County.
Supervisor Boyd Campbell expressed concerns about Floyd County being shorthanded for an engineer if things don’t work out long term with Cerro Gordo County.
Current County Auditor Gloria Carr, who will become a Supervisor in January, had similar concerns.
Carr was appointed as the County liaison, with Cerro Gordo County yet to appoint a counterpart.
