Charles City Woman Arrested on Louisiana Drug Charge After Tobacco Compliance Check
A retail tobacco compliance check led to the arrest of a Charles City woman, wanted for illegal drug procession in Louisiana.
The Charles City Police Department (CCPD) says 31-year-old Ronisha Brown was arrested shortly after 7:30 pm Tuesday (01.21) night on a valid warrant out of Louisiana for felony charges.
According to court documents, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in Gretna, Louisiana, issued the warrant for Brown’s arrest for possession of cocaine, neglecting or refusing to attend court. The warrant listed her address as New Orleans.
Prior to her arrest, CCPD was conducting an I-Pledge tobacco compliance check at Rush Stop (609 South Main Street), where Brown was cited for “employee providing tobacco/vapor products to a person under 21.” For the violation, she was fined $135 and assessed over $200 in court costs.
Brown is being held without bond in the Floyd County Jail awaiting extradition to Louisiana, with a hearing on the matter scheduled for February 3rd in Floyd County District Court.
