New Hampton School Board Seat Open With Resignation
The New Hampton Community School District is looking to fill a vacancy on its Board of Education.
The District 2 seat on the School Board opened up when the resignation of Bob Ayers was accepted by the Board’s four remaining members during the January monthly board meeting. Ayers was in his first term on the School Board following his election in 2021 and his resignation became effective immediately.
The New Hampton Community Schools Facebook page says they seek to appoint a replacement to fill the vacancy on or before February 13th. Anyone interested in the post must reside within the boundaries of Director District 2, which is within the city limits of New Hampton.
That appointee will remain on the board until the next regular school board election, scheduled for November 4, 2025. At that time, the public will elect a board member for the next four-year term.
Interested parties are encouraged to respond to a brief survey to be reviewed by the current Board of Education members as a tool to assist with this important decision. Submission deadline is February 7th.
A link to the survey is available at New Hampton Community Schools on Facebook and with this story.
School Board President Jay Matthews says Ayers also served as Board Secretary and SBO for several years before his election to the School Board.
