Long Overdue, Kenwood Avenue on West Side of New Hampton Getting Makeover
Kenwood Avenue on the west side of New Hampton is getting a long overdue makeover.
Since the east half of the road lies in the City limits of New Hampton and the western half belongs to Chickasaw County, the cost to repave the road is being split between the City and the County.
Chickasaw County Sheriff Ryan Shawver alerts motorists to take alternate routes now that work began March 17th.
New Hampton Mayor Steve Geerts says both municipalities have wanted to address the road for some time.
The City and County entered into a 28E agreement for the City to pay $100,000 towards the project through a five-year loan. The County will cover the remainder of the cost, estimated at about $215,000 total.
