North Iowans Win $175,000 Combined in Top Prizes in March with Iowa Lottery Games 

A quartet of North Iowans have won almost $200,000 combined in March with some of the top prizes available through Iowa Lottery scratch games.

Terry Stillings of Forest City is the eighth person since the start of the year to claim a top prize in the $50,000 Super Crossword game after buying her winning ticket at a Kwik Star in Forest City The 65-year-old Stillings has worked at Winnebago for 41 years, but plans to retire next January and said she’ll save her winnings to make retirement more comfortable.

Other $50,000 Super Crossword top prize winners in 2025 include Travis Butler of Rockford and James Goetzinger of Hazleton.

An Allamakee County man won a $10,000 prize this month, his second big win in three years. Ward Williams of Harpers Ferry won his latest big prize on a “Lucky 7 Bonus” scratch ticket purchased at a Kwik Star in Decorah. 

Williams previously won over $13,000 in 2022 from an InstaPlay game.

Tommy Baltierra of Mason City, a self-described “PAC-MAN master” is one of 10 people to win a $15,000 prize in the first entry period of the Iowa Lottery’s “PAC-MAN Second Chance” promotion. Baltierra said he was shocked he won in a promotion featuring a game he loves. In fact, he even owns a book about the play patterns, which helped him master the game.

Baltierra entered the promotion using a nonwinning “PAC-MAN” scratch ticket he purchased at Northside Liquor in Mason City. He said he plans to purchase a new TV and pay off some bills.

Walter Wood of Sumner won a top prize with a “$100,000 Mega Crossword” scratcher he bought at Dollar Fresh Market in Oelwein. The 72-year-old Wood works at a rock quarry, but said he has no plans to retire.
