Charles City Woman Arrested on Felony Child Endangerment Charge

A Charles City woman has been accused of violently abusing a child.

According to the criminal complaint filed by the Charles City Police Department, 37-year-old Samantha Slaughter physically assaulted a child in a home in the 300 block of 8th Avenue on February 13th. CCPD alleges Slaughter “did so by committing a series of acts, each of which was done deliberately and intentionally with the intent to cause serious injury to (the) minor.”

Slaughter is charged with child endangerment causing serious injury, a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. 

She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 4th in Floyd County District Court.

Slaughter is being held in the Floyd County Jail on $20,000 cash-only bond.
