New Hampton, Turkey Valley School Districts Begin Transition Process to New Superintendent
The New Hampton School Board met last week with the New Hampton Education Association to begin negotiations on teacher contracts for the 2025-2026 school year. Monday (05.05), the School Board has its initial negotiating session for the 25-26 contract with support staff.
In addition to those proceedings, outgoing Superintendent Jay Jurrens says he’s working to check some other projects off his list as the district prepares for the transition to new Superintendent Erik Smith.
Jurrens says Smith has visited the school district several times while also performing his current roles in the AGWSR and Gladbrook-Reinbeck school districts.
Jurrens will retire at the end of this school year on June 30th. Smith officially takes over as shared Superintendent for New Hampton and Turkey Valley starting July 1st.
