Michelle Schubert from Floyd County ISU Extension joined the morning show via phone for a Community Conversation, sponsored by Floyd County Medical Center, to share details on summer day camps for kids. For kindergarten through third graders, three Clover Kids camps are planned: Gardening Adventures (Mondays in June, 1-4 PM, at the Extension office, partnering with Hy-Vee to plant and tend a garden), Color Creation (June 5, 9 AM-3 PM, at the fairgrounds, focusing on art and colors), and Dig Those Dinos (June 11, 9 AM-3 PM, at Rockford Fossil Park, exploring fossils and dinosaur life). For fourth through sixth graders, Drone Mania (June 17, at Floyd Community Center) teaches drone navigation and ends with an obstacle course. For sixth through eighth graders, Wilderness Warriors (June 26, at Lime Creek Nature Center) covers shelter building, campfire cooking, wildlife education, and geocaching. Sign up at v2.4honline.com or pay by cash/check at the Extension office. Schubert also teased the Floyd County Fair (July 16-20) with new events like a livestock costume contest.

Grow, create, explore—join Floyd County ISU Extensions’ summer camps for a season of fun! For more information on all programs offered at the Floyd County ISU Extension, follow this link or call (641) 228-1453.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
