Size of Charles City Kading Housing Project Still TBD

The City of Charles City continues to work through preliminary plans with Kading Properties of Urbandale on the construction of market-rate housing along 13th Street, between Corporate Drive and Floyd County Medical Center. 

City Administrator Steve Diers recently told the City Council that how many residential units will be built and how soon is still uncertain.

Diers noted different factors putting the number of units in a state of flux.

Even if construction is done in phases.

Meanwhile, Kading works to secure additional federal Workforce Tax Credits (WFTC) for the project. As part of that application process, Kading is asking various entities to provide letters of support, specifically, a City resolution of support for the project. 

The Council is scheduled to take up that support letter during their regular meeting Monday (05.19) night at 6 pm in the Charles City Public Library.
