Diers on Charles City and Clear Lake City Council Agendas Monday (05.19)
Charles City City Administrator Steve Diers is an agenda item on two city council meetings Monday (05.19) night.
It was announced earlier this month that Diers would be departing his post in Charles City to become the next city administrator for the City of Clear Lake.
At 6 pm Monday in the Zastrow Room of the Charles City Public Library, the City Council agenda includes acceptance of Diers’ official resignation, with his last day to be employed by Charles City set for June 20th. In his letter to the Council and Mayor Dean Andrews, Diers writes, “I am proud of the many positive accomplishments we have achieved together for the community, with even more progress on the horizon. This was not an easy decision, as my family and I have made many friends within the community and we have grown to love Charles City.”
Diers has been the city administrator in Charles City since March 2014.
At 5:30 pm Monday night, the Clear Lake City Council is scheduled to vote on formally approving the hiring of Diers as their city administrator, with an anticipated start date of July 7th.
According to the contract agreement, Diers will have an annual salary of $172,000. After a six-month satisfactory performance period, that wage will increase to $177,000 on January 1, 2026.
