Denver 3rd in Class 2A, St. Ansgar 5th in Class 1A at Boys State Track & Field Championships

Denver finished third in the Class 2A boys team standings at the 2025 Iowa High School State Track and Field Championships last weekend in Des Moines.
The Cyclones were powered by the state title in the 4-by-800 meter relay, plus second-place finishes in both the 800 meter sprint medley and 4-by-200 meter relays. Denver’s Will Lockhart took the bronze in the discus and Cameron Ledoux was fourth in the 200 meters, with the 4-by-400 meter relay also finishing fourth.
Dylan Brumm’s state runner-up showing in the 200 meters helped Saint Ansgar place fifth in the Class 1A team standings. The Saints Braden Halvorsen also took fourth in the discus and shot put. The tandem of Brumm, Michels, Kline and Sutcliff also finished fourth in the 800 meters sprint medley relay.
Also in 1A boys, West Fork’s Xavier Haller took third in the high jump.
In Class 2A, Crestwood placed fourth in both the 1600 meter sprint medley and 4-by-100 meter relays, while Sumner-Fredericksburg’s Gavin Trask taking fourth in the shot put.
In Class 3A, Waverly-Shell Rock’s Rylan Peters won the state title in the long jump, with the Go-Hawks’ 4-by-400 meter relay team taking third.
The Charles City boys distance medley relay team of Ezekiel Causey, Patrick Bruening Victor Ward and Xander Graser finished 21st in the state with a season best 3:40.07.
