Nashua-Plainfield’s Huck Leads Area 2025 State Girls Track and Field Performances

Nashua-Plainfield’s Kadence Huck rounded out her high school track career with a nice round number at the Iowa High School Track and Field Championships in Des Moines over the weekend.

Huck won two more state titles, claiming the crowns in both the 400 and 800 meter runs, giving her a total of 10 gold medals between her individual and team relay events at state. Huck, who will run collegiately at Oklahoma State, just missed an individual trifecta, finishing as state runner-up in the 1500 meters.

Huck also teamed up with Eva Foelske, Manuela Jimenez, and Kelly Cerwinske to take second in the 1600 meters spring medley relay, helping the Huskies finish in a tie for third in the girls Class 1A team standings.

Finishing as state runners up in the girls 1A team standings is Saint Ansgar, on the strength of Jacey Johnston’s state championship in the 200 meters and Lindsay Kruse second-place state showing in the discus. The Saints also placed fourth in the 800 and 1600 meter and sprint medley relays, plus the 4-by-400 and 4-by-800 medley relays.

In Class 2A, North Fayette Valley’s Hannah Schroeder took home state gold by claiming the title in the discus. New Hampton’s Taylor Ries placed 10th in the 400 meter hurdles, with Osage’s Scarlett Byrnes taking 4th in the 3,000 meter run.

In Class 3A, Charles City’s Leah Stewart placed 10th and 11th in the discus and shot put respectively, with the Comets Sophia Calpito finishing 7th in the 100 meter hurdles and 16th in the long jump.
