Application Deadline for Charles City City Administrator Post Wednesday (09.03)
The City of Charles City is down to the final days of taking applications for its next permanent city administrator.
In May, former City Administrator Steve Diers announced he would depart after over 11 years with the City to take the same position with the City of Clear Lake. His last day on the job in Charles City was June 20th and the City has since contracted with Dan Gifford to serve on an interim basis.
Gifford had worked as city administrator in Spencer before he retired. He has said he has no interest in the position full-time.
The City has been advertising for the post since August 1st, but Mayor Dean Andrews says recruitment for applicants has also been helped by word of mouth.
The City is working with Hinson Consulting in the hiring process, which Andrews says will eventually be whittled down to two or three finalists.
The City hopes to have the new city administrator start in November.
As of 4 pm last Thursday (08.28), City Clerk Brittney Lentz said they had received six applications. The deadline to apply is 5 pm Wednesday (09.03).
