A fire in The Main Event building in downtown Charles City almost a month ago is still disrupting operations of neighboring businesses.
The women’s clothing store, Saxony, was closed by the August 23rd blaze, though there was no fire in the store itself. Owner Lisa Richter reopened briefly August 29th through September 1st for a four-day “Fire Sale,” but it has been closed since for major cleaning. They are expected to open the doors back up September 29th.
Michelle Schuebert is with ISU Extension and Outreach Floyd County, which shares a wall with the Main Event. While they were also fire-free, she says they too will be closed a little while longer.
Schuebert says staff continue to work remotely or from alternate locations in their efforts to still supply the programs they offer, including 4H club membership signup.
