Special Elections Results Canvassed, Rottinghaus Sworn in as Floyd Co. Supervisor Seat

A week after the special election for the District 2 seat on the Floyd County Board of Supervisors, results are now official.

Initial numbers after polls closed on September 23rd showed Democrat Frank Rottinghaus edging out Republican Joshua Neupert by just two votes, with independent candidates Aaron Hobert and Doug Lindaman finishing third and fourth respectively.

Tuesday (09.30), Supervisors, including Neupert, who was appointed to the seat in July following the June death of then-District 2 Supervisor Dennis Keifer, met to canvass the ballots. In the resolution accepting the official outcome, Board Chair Boyd Campbell noted the numbers were the same as those on election night.

With results official, Rottinghaus was then sworn into office.

In their regular Board meeting prior to the canvass, Campbell commended Neupert for stepping into the District 2 Supervisor role on what turned out to be an interim basis.

Neupert was thankful for the experience.

Rottinghaus, who previously served as Floyd County Treasurer for over 20 years, will serve out the remainder of Keifer’s term, which runs until the end of 2026.
