New Hampton Man Runs Vehicle Into Police Car, Arrested for OWI—Third Within Two Years

A New Hampton man, convicted last month of OWI for the second time in just over a year, has been arrested again for OWI after hitting a police squad car with his vehicle.
New Hampton Police Chief Conrad Rosendahl says 25-year-old Juan Alfredo Tepole Tlehauctle was taken into custody shortly after 10 am Tuesday (10.28) for OWI – third or subsequent offense, a Class D felony.
According to Rosendahl and criminal complaints, NHPD received a call of a reckless driver, with Tepole Tlehauctle’s pickup located in the 400 block of South Linn Street, where Tepole Tlehauctle attempted to pull into the apartment complex where he lived. But, he missed the driveway and drove up onto the grass.
Rosendahl says he then pulled in behind Tlehauctle’s truck. As Rosendahl was exiting his patrol car, Tepole Tlehauctle then allegedly backed up and struck the patrol vehicle, before attempting to flee by driving off. However, Chickasaw County Sheriff’s deputies were able to box in Tepole Tlehauctle with their vehicles.
Teploe Tlehauctle also allegedly refused commands to exit his pickup and had to be physically removed from the vehicle. He also refused to give a breath sample for chemical testing and was charged with OWI and driving while license revoked or suspended. He was also cited for reckless driving, failure to comply with an order of a peace officer, and an open container violation.
Court records show Tepole Tlehauctle was convicted in Chickasaw County District Court of OWI in September, stemming from his arrest in March by NHPD in the same area. A witness said Tepole Tlehauctle’s vehicle hit a sign and light pole.
In March 2024, Tepole Tlehauctle was also arrested for OWI after flipping his vehicle onto its top in the parking lot of the Super 8 Motel. In that case, his blood alcohol content (BAC) measured .255%, more than three times the legal limit of .08% BAC.
