An elderly northeast Iowa man is dead after crashing his ATV.
The Iowa State Patrol (ISP) says 84-year-old Veryl Burghardt of Fayette was driving the vehicle along 160th Street in Sumner around 4:15 PM Friday (11.21) afternoon.
Burghardt was eastbound on T avenue when the ATV crashed into the north ditch. He later was pronounced dead from his injuries.
ISP says he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and Sumner Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
