There will be one less drinking establishment in Charles City after Wednesday (01.21).
Post Commander Denny Hull says financial constraints will force them to close the canteen of the VFW at the end of the day.
Still, Hull says the canteen doors may not be closed forever.
Hull stresses that the bar is the only part of the VFW that is closing.
Hull adds that they will also continue hosting meals to raise funds for the bar, with donations from the public also welcome by calling 641-220-1955.
The Charles City VFW, which is open to the public, will open at 3:30 pm Wednesday afternoon and will cease operations after the last customer leaves.
