Annette Dean, Director of the Charles City Public Library, joined us on Community Conversations to break down a packed schedule of events as Cabin Fever Weekend returns to Charles City. From Literary “Tails” Trivia & Mocktails on Friday night to a K-Pop Demon Hunters party, Mahjong lessons, and a special one-shot Dungeons & Dragons adventure, the library is offering something for every age group. Annette also shared updates on adult tech help sessions, chair yoga as part of the “Beat the Blues” series, multiple book clubs (including The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins and A Discovery of Witches), and upcoming family craft nights starting in February. In addition to the special events, regular programming for kids and teens continues, including story times, teen crochet group, “Get Messy” crafts, and more.

For full event calendars, program details, and sign-ups, visit the Charles City Public Library website at charles-city.lib.ia.us or follow them on Facebook for the latest updates.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City, which basically means he’s been corn‑fed and radio‑bred since day one. As a kid, he was always caught singing along to the radio — and while he’ll tell you he’s great at karaoke, let’s just say the audience’s ears often file a noise complaint. When he’s not busy butchering ‘80s power ballads, Chris enjoys starting overly ambitious home projects that rarely make it past the “great idea” stage. He lives in Charles City with his endlessly patient wife Vicki and their kids, Brynlee and Jaxon, who have already perfected the art of the eye‑roll every time Dad cracks another “dad joke.”
