Fire Means Early Dismissal Thursday (01.29) for Osage School District Students

Fire led to early dismissal for a north Iowa school district Thursday (01.29).
Osage school administration sent out a letter to Green Devil Families, noting that the fire alarms went off during first period classes at the Middle School/High School Thursday morning. Students evacuated the building as practiced during drills and were taken into the CRC.
Officials say smoke was seen coming out of the Middle School laundry room, with the Osage Fire Department arriving and putting out the fire.
The incident prompted dismissal across the entire school district due to bussing at 9:30 am and 9:40 am Thursday. High school students that drove to school were allowed to leave.
Middle School students were returned to the High School Gym and were dismissed from there or were picked up at the main High School entrance.
The Osage school district administration thanked students, parents and staff for their cooperation and understanding.
There were no injuries reported. Extent of the damage caused by the fire is not known at this time.
